Program: Unaccompanied asylum-seeking child (UASC)
Young Dragon sessions designed to support young people creatively expressing themselves to support processing difficult experiences. These tabletop gaming sessions also support a fun and normalized way to practice speaking English while practising other social and advocacy skills.
We utilize adaptive communication styles to support engagement – such as storyboarding and employ comic book strips.
Goals
- Support for young people who are UASC – in a normalized play-led program.
- A place to creatively express themselves and the emotions they have experienced.
- Peer experience allows for young people with similar experiences to come together.
- Allow for practicing English through games.
Program
- Session 1 – Introduction and Building a character.
- Session 2 – 6 Team building, practising social skills.
- Sessions 6-10 Expressive and life-experience storytelling.
- Sessions 10 -12 – Exploring key themes.
Each program is designed for up to four young people, a size we recommend for an optimal experience.
What is Young Dragons?
Young Dragons is our inclusive adventure club for children and young people. It includes all of our outreach programs, allowing us to customize the sessions to support young people’s specific needs and situations as they join a community and meet other Young Dragons. We also prefer to use the term Young Dragon to refer to the program name with the pupils.

Our storytellers undergo advanced training tailored to specific programs, ensuring they are well-equipped for their roles. The majority of our storytellers have gained experience through their involvement with our sister company, The Role Play Haven. Their proven track record highlights their commitment to facilitating enjoyable, safe, and charitable gaming experiences. Each of them all vetted by our lead Storyteller and Safty Officer.
