Young Dragons are sessions designed to support young people who have experienced trauma. Sessions will focus on storytelling to support young people expressing themselves through character.  Session will also contain opportunities to explore key themes tailored to each group, in a safe and normalized story driven way.

Goals

  • Support for young people who have experienced or are experiencing trauma – in a normalized play-led program.
  • A place to creatively express themselves and the emotions they have experienced.
  • Exploring key themes through safe and fun game play.
  • A space to meet peers who may have similar experiences.

Program

  • Session 1 – Introduction and Building a character.
  • Session 2 – 7  Creative expression and character development.
  • Sessions 8-12 Exploring key themes as tailored to each group (examples of the themes: identity, rejection, conflict management).

Each program is designed for up to four young people, a size we recommend for an optimal experience.

What is Young Dragons?

Young Dragons is our inclusive adventure club for children and young people. It includes all of our outreach programs, allowing us to customize the sessions to support young people’s specific needs and situations as they join a community and meet other Young Dragons. We also prefer to use the term Young Dragon to refer to the program name with the pupils.

Our Storytellers

Our storytellers undergo advanced training tailored to specific programs, ensuring they are well-equipped for their roles. The majority of our storytellers have gained experience through their involvement with our sister company, The Role Play Haven. Their proven track record highlights their commitment to facilitating enjoyable, safe, and charitable gaming experiences. Each of them all vetted by our lead Storyteller and Safty Officer.
