What is D&D (Dungeons and Dragons)?
Dungeons & Dragons is a fantasy tabletop role-playing game where players create characters and embark on adventures in a fictional world. The game is guided by a Story Teller sometimes referred as a Dungeon or Game Master (DM/GM) who narrates the story and controls the game’s environment.
In D&D, players can explore fantasy worlds, battle monsters, solve puzzles, and complete quests. The game emphasizes storytelling and creativity, allowing players to shape their characters’ actions and decisions.
What is roleplaying games?
Role-playing games (RPGs) are games where players assume the roles of characters in a fictional setting. Players act out these roles within a narrative, making decisions that affect the story’s outcome. Dungeons and Dragons is one type of Role playing game.
How does D&D or role-playing games work?
Dungeons and Dragons (D&D) involves a group of players and a Storyteller. Players create characters with specific abilities and stats. The Storyteller describes scenarios, and players decide their characters’ actions. Dice rolls determine the success of these actions, driving the story forward.
What is the purpose of pupils playing D&D?
Playing D&D can support pupils with:

Do pupils have to know anything about D&D?
No prior knowledge is necessary to start playing D&D. Our storytellers will teach beginners the basics, and we will provide guides and resources.
What equipment is needed?
To play D&D, you’ll need rulebooks, character sheets, dice, and miniatures or tokens. We will provide all this in virtual or in person sessions.
What are the outcomes for the pupils?
Pupils can gain confidence, creativity, collaboration skills, and critical thinking abilities. D&D can also foster a sense of community and belonging.
